Description
Wonderful, pearly iridescent Ammonite shell selection, cemented together in a conglomerate display signed beneath by J.M. We don’t know this artist – but bought a handful of his (or her) pieces because they represent the type so well. Ammonite’s date back 60 million to 3 times that, in age, during a golden era when these seafaring shelled creatures filled the seas. They are found – in this case in Madagascar – but also (though they look different) in Morocco. Getting this type of shell – never mind put together in this way – is becoming increasingly difficult, hence the value we place on the item. Length: 8.9cm; Width: 8.6cm; Height: 18.3cm Weight: 817.8g (28.85oz) Origin: Africa, Madagascar
